🍃 How to Find Peace in a World of Noise

read time: 04 minutes

Welcome back to The Checkpoint, a newsletter where, every Monday, we pause, reflect, and level up our lives.

☑️ Today's Summary:

  • Why we’re living with so much “life noise” these days
  • The one key concept we need for creating more “life peace”
  • How to start building harmony toward a life we love

🌿 The Key Fundamentals Of Inner Peace

Hey Reader!

As you may recall (or not — because honestly, who the hell am I really?), a couple of months ago I tried a "dopamine detox" for the first time.

I ended up liking the experience so much that I’ve decided to make it a quarterly routine in my life. This past week marked my first dopamine detox of 2025.

During this week, I restricted myself from:

  • Playing video games, watching videos, and listening to podcasts
  • Listening to or playing music
  • Checking social media, email, and WhatsApp more than once per day

And while doing (or not doing) all of this, I realized just how much noise there is in today’s life — and I don’t mean literal sounds.

According to the APA, stress levels have skyrocketed since 2023. And I firmly believe it’s because we have so little peace in our day-to-day...

Again, I don’t mean peace in the physical sense — I mean it in the vital sense:

  • Living at a slow, calm pace
  • Surrounding yourself with loving and caring people
  • Having a deep sense of clarity and confidence about your life

But the problem is, we’re so bombarded with constant stimulation, drama, and — overall — noise, that we lose track of what our life is truly about: being at peace.

Now, the big question is:
How the hell am I supposed to get this peace you’re talking about?

That’s exactly what I’ve been reflecting on these past few days (mostly because I’ve been reading The Power of Now — a fantastic book, btw).

And I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s all about harmony.

In music theory, harmony is the combination of different musical notes played or sung simultaneously to produce a pleasing sound. So in the context of life, harmony means that the different aspects of your everyday existence are all aiming toward the same thing — hopefully, peace.

In my case, I realized that I lacked harmony in some of my vital buckets:

  • Health: My soul and heart were aiming for peace, but my body was aiming for performance
  • Relationships: I’m at peace with my friendships and family, but craving more romantic activity
  • Work: My career is moving toward the mental health industry, but my projects and money goals are not

So, moving forward, I’m trying to reorient these areas of my life so that all of them harmonize toward peace — meaning that drama, desire, and rush have no room to grow.

💡How to apply this concept TODAY:

Looking back at your last week, can you identify an aspect of your life (health, relationships, or work) that was out of sync with the rest?

  • Have you been absent from your daily activities?
  • Have you ignored your friends, family, or parents even though they matter to you?
  • Have you focused too much (or too little) on your work?

If so, take a moment to ask yourself:

Where is my life compass pointing, and are all parts of my life moving in that direction together?

✍️ Week's Quote

When people get hurt, they learn to hate... When people hurt others, they become hated and racked with guilt. But knowing that pain allows people to be kind. Pain allows people to grow... and how you grow is up to you.
